What is 14/20 Gold Filled jewellery?
In some parts of the world, a piece of jewellery will be described as gold filled and gold plated in the same advertisement, but not in the USA. In the USA, anything labelled Gold Filled is LEGALLY required to be 5% or 1/20 gold by weight. The gold may be 10, 12, or 14 carat (10K, 12K, 14K). By comparison, gold plating is a minuscule layer of gold applied to a metal base. It is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product and it wears off.
Our jewellery range is 14/20 Gold-Filled which means 1/20 of the weight is 14ct gold. 14ct gold is richer in colour and more tarnish resistant than 9ct gold. The quality mark may be abbreviated to 14/20 GF. The numbers “14/20” in front of the “Gold Filled” label is your assurance that the item is NOT gold plated.

An excellent, affordable, long lasting alternative to expensive solid 9ct (375), 18ct (750) gold and cheap gold-plating.
